I've done a series on the bio (written by Sigrid Unsted, a Catholic convert who won the Nobel prize in Literature), three blogs to date. Here's a link to the third blog:
http://ashesfromburntroses.blogspot.com/2013/04/book-excerpt-catherine-of-siena-by.html

From there you can get the inks to the first two blogs. I intend to do one more blog on the bio. She was a remarkable woman. I think her bio might put the letters into context for you. What I really want to get is her book of prayers. I have it in my Amazon cart waiting for a good time to order it.Mannyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15396201693030286919noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7156010004467129157.post-17564279391912998022013-04-14T19:57:27.270-05:002013-04-14T19:57:27.270-05:00Manny I haven't read her biography but I do ha...Manny I haven't read her biography but I do have a book of letters St. Catherine wrote. She is one of the saints I pray to every morning after receiving Holy Communion. One of these days, perhaps before I return to work, I will get a chance to read more about her. I'm glad you have such a wonderful friend.
Thanks for your prayers,
JoyceTLWhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05699746979019393620noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7156010004467129157.post-58498240415318406322013-04-14T19:34:31.292-05:002013-04-14T19:34:31.292-05:00Sunday does feel like a little heaven! I shall ask her for prayers for you to have extra strength to deal with all the difficulties you've been facing. One of the promises to those who faithfully pray the Chaplet to St. Michael is that one angel from each of the nine choirs will accompany us to the altar rail when we receive Holy Communion. I too often forget this. St Theresa of Avila thought it a powerful defense against the enemy. It's so true..the devil hates Sundays. He also hates holy hours, retreats, etc. He's so obvious about it all. I too will call on St. Michael and the holy angels to protect you...and the Queen of angels, especially.

I have my Carmelite meeting today, and I'm surprised that I do not have some illness or a mega migraine. It's like clockwork on meeting OCDS meeting days and holy hour Tuesdays. I can bet if I get sick, it will fall on those days. I used to have unbearable migraines almost every Tuesday..to keep me from adoration.

Sad that so many don't believe in the devil. He's out there and hates us so much...and will do anything to keep us from God.

I know you will come out the better from whatever your trial is...because of your faith and love in and for God. Wishing you tons of Easter season blessings!! Love and prayers xoxoPatriciahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16544210857236830904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7156010004467129157.post-49311684587732656722013-04-14T10:47:14.114-05:002013-04-14T10:47:14.114-05:00It's funny you should mention St Michael, Joyc...It's funny you should mention St Michael, Joyce.
I have only recently found it very helpful to say his prayer whenever I'm stuck in an uncharitable thought pattern. It interrupts the flow somehow, and I'm quickly distracted and thinking of something else. (Or maybe that's just a symptom of advancing age)
Anyway, I'm convinced St Michael carries heavy artillery. Good luck to you today. It's a beautiful day and I hope a peaceful and happy one for you my friend.sheepnamedcocohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07204156580894414684noreply@blogger.com
