Urgent Prayer Request

Yesterday, I learned that a devoted and humble servant of Christ is facing a grave diagnosis.  Her name is Maria and her family has requested prayers.  I felt called to begin a novena for Maria to my beloved late friend Father Jim Galligan, OSA, a most devout and pious friar who passed away last December.    Father was devoted to the Divine Mercy, up until his last breath.  It would be fitting, I think, to ask that if you are willing to pray for Maria, that you do so by offering the chaplet for her and ask Father Galligan to intercede on her behalf.

A most moving aspect of God's infinite mercy is that He hears and answers our prayers, regardless of how faithful or obedient we've been to Him.   May His Will be done!

  1. Joyce, I will pray the chaplet for her in adoration tomorrow. So sorry to hear such sad news. May God comfort and strengthen her, and grant her a favorable outcome to this illness.

  2. Thank you Patricia. Maria and her entire family are very faithful and devoted Catholics which is one reason they have appealed for prayers beyond their inner circle. Peaceful and blessed New Year to you and your family, including Benedict! Joyce

  3. Thank you Daniel, I have been wondering how you are and how your third year in seminary is treating you. Happy and blessed Christmastide and New Year.

  4. Third year is challenging. The work load has increased drastically, so I was exhausted by the time first semester finished. I actually had to go to the doctor because I was starting to get health problems due to how tired I was (difficulty breathing, a possible stomach ulcer). No doubt the fact that I don't sleep much didn't help. The month long break that we get during the winter will help me recover.

Vacation itself has been a mix of good and bad. The good is that I was in Poland to visit my family, which is always nice since everyone by my father and one aunt lives very far away. The bad is that my grandmother died the day after Christmas, so it's been tough for the family for the last week.

  5. Sorry to hear about your grandmother Daniel. There is no good time to lose a loved one but I'm sure when it happens at Christmas it's especially difficult. May she rest in peace with Christ. I'll pray a little harder for you than I have so that your load is a bit easier to carry. Take care.

  6. Hi Joyce, I found this request late, but nevertheless I will offer my prayers for this dear lady. Also glad to see you posting here. Patricia told me where to find you : )

I've often thought of you when I get my mail from St Rita's and I offered a prayer for you and your family. I have missed you, but not forgotten you.
    Blessings and +

  7. Caroline! How wonderful to hear from you again. You are often on my mind and in my prayers. Better late than never ;) Someday perhaps you'll have an opportunity to visit St Rita's and if you do, you can visit with me as well. Until then, we remain kindred spirits in The Peacemaker. Love Joyce
