Urgent Prayer Request to Prevent an Abortion

Today, I received a call from a friend begging for prayers.  A family member is pregnant with her first child and wants to have an abortion because prenatal testing indicates the baby she is carrying has Down's Syndrome.  I promised her I would start a novena for this intention and would also reach out to my small but faithful core group of readers to ask them to pray as well.    Further testing is scheduled for next week.

A few years back, a coworker learned that her first grandchild would be born with Down's.  She wasn't worried about it, however, because as she said, children with Down's are "nothing but love" and she was sure that her daughter-in-law would never regret her decision to bring that baby into the world once she held him in her arms.  She was right.

Please pray.  My friend is a faithful Catholic and is just sick over this.

Thank you and God bless you.

  1. Oh Joyce...will definitely pray, and offer holy hour tomorrow for this intention. I'm sure you know that over 90 percent of these precious Down's children are now aborted. Yet, there are couples desperate to adopt these precious ones who are so loving and with the training available now, often can live independently as adults. I hope your friend can convince the mother that this child is very much wanted...even if she herself feels she cannot cope. May God spare this little life!

  2. Joyce...this is in my prayers immediately. My husband and I were previously looking into adopting a child with Down's Syndrome but after we saw the waiting list and costs, we had let go of that idea.

    Holding close to my heart...

  3. I will surely pray and offer small sacrifices. I was told my eldest son was at risk for Down's and was not pushed, but it was insinuated kind of sneeringly that I have an abortion.
    He was perfectly fine.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

  4. Thank you everyone. I will update you on this situation as soon as I know more. Let's storm Heaven on behalf of this baby and the conflicted parents.

On another note, I asked everyone to pray awhile back for someone who underwent surgery for a brain tumor. The surgery was a success and the tumor was benign and the doctors believe they got it all. Thank God and thank all of you for your prayers!

The only donation you will ever be asked to make when you visit here is a prayerful one. God bless.
