On the day of the feast commemorating Our Lady's birth, Archbishop Charles Chaput was installed as the shepherd of the flock of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Between Kermit Gosnell, flash mob violence and the clergy sex abuse scandal, the city founded by William Penn has come to resemble the epicenter of decay more than the City of Brotherly Love. Let's pray we can put all of that behind us under Bishop Chaput's guardianship.
And please, Bishop Chaput, with all due respect, light a fire of Eucharistic love by following the Holy Father's example by requiring the faithful to kneel and receive the Lord from your hand directly on their tongues. You needn't learn the TLM to do this.
God Bless you Archbishop Chaput!

So, What's New in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia?
I refer you to someone in the know. I have no ax to grind with Cardinal Rigali, but if what we're hearing is true (supposedly his successor is already in town) I think this is good news for us. The announcement will come from the Vatican at 6am Philadelphia-time tomorrow and we're told that Cardinal Rigali and his successor will celebrate Mass tomorrow at Noon at the Basicila of Sts. Peter and Paul in downtown Philly. Wow.
