The Grisly Abortion Trial Mostly Ignored by the Media

Perhaps if I didn't live in Philadelphia, where Kermit Gosnell operated a chamber of horrors for years unmonitored and unchecked, I wouldn't hear anything about his trial, which just entered its fourth week.  A former employee who entered into a plea arrangement with the District Attorney testified yesterday about one particularly horrifying night.  The Philadelphia Inquirer reported the following and I warn you that it is graphic:

"There was this clear glass pan, and I saw it, and I thought 'what do you expect me to do?' It wasn't fully developed" (Sherry) West said, referring to the 18-24 inch newborn in the pan.  "It didn't have eyes or a mouth but it was like screeching, making this noise.  It was weird.  It sounded like a little alien."  Questioned by Assistant District Attorney Joanne Pescatore,   West, 53, testified that she didn't know what happened to "the specimen", the terminology she said she used because "it was easier to deal with mentally.  It really freaked me out, and I said call Dr. Gosnell, and I went back out front," West added.

So much for babies who are subjected to abortion not feeling pain.  The only difference between what went on in Gosnell's so-called clinic and other abortion mills is that the latter were cleaner and employed licensed personnel.  The bottom line was and is the same.

Even if the abortion-wild national media like CNN and MSNBC are ignoring this story, the local news, an ABC-affiliate, is not.  Tonight at 11 6ABC-WPVI is going to run an expose on a local Planned Parenthood where former employees are now speaking out about the atrocities that took place there.

Keep praying and chipping away.  Little by little, the public's eyes are being opened.

  1. Thanks for this post. I will watch the piece tonight. I wonder if it is the PP that Bob and I regularly pray at? 12th and Locust.

I mentioned over at Terry's that not only is Gosnell being ignored, but we get to hear every 25 minutes on KYW about each and every priest that gets sentenced. Over and over.

  2. No, it is not that one, it may be a PP in Delaware from the limited amount I could see on the trailer. Yes, it's amazing what the news media picks and chooses to report on. I give the Inquirer some credit for keeping it in the spotlight. I think it is important to frame the argument so that abortion is not seen solely as an issue important to religious people. It is the foremost human rights issue, whether the media wants to admit it or not.

  3. The mainstream media are just a disgrace. They minimize coverage on anything that doesn't suit their agenda. I've been wanting to post on this myself at my political blog. But I haven't had the time. I've been taking home work three or four days in a row now. I would love to see your local story, but I can't get that here. Maybe it'll be on Youtube in a day or two. Everytime I hear snippets from the trial it just turns my stomach. They should do stuff like that to an animal, let alone a poor innocent unborn.

    1. Manny you may be able to watch it by googling 6ABC-WPVI Philadelphia. I could not stay up to watch it but I'm going to the website in a short bit to see if they posted the video - I would bet they did. I'm not sure what turns my stomach more - the testimony of what went on or the fact that so few care.

  4. Joyce, I read an article about it online somewhere and felt physically sick afterwards. I agree with Manny..it's a disgrace that the media has swept this under the rug.
I hope and pray that slowly the veil of blindness is being torn away from people.
    Love and Blessings +

  5. Caroline, around the same time this story broke, another one also was uncovered in New Jersey. I can't remember that "physician's" name but it was almost as horrific a story as this one. In yesterday's proceedings, the defense attorney actually tried to argue that the babies were going to die anyway so it wasn't really murder. Worse, there was a discussion about how Gosnell didn't "use enough digoxin" to kill the babies while they were still in utero so he didn't "perform the procedure correctly". It just boggles my mind that people, including the prosecutor, can use this kind of language without stopping to think they are talking about an innocent human life. Beyond sickening!
    God bless,
    Joyce
