"Now You've Done It"

That's what I told myself when I genuflected before entering my pew yesterday morning and heard an audible pop as something ripped in my left knee.  It can't be my ACL because there is no swelling.  What there is plenty of is pain if I take a wrong step. There's no way to know  if I've taken a wrong step until after I've taken one and an excruciating pain shoots through my knee.  When it's not painful, it's giving way and catching.  Probably a torn meniscus.   Kneeling has been a real challenge.

It's no fun getting old.

  1. I hope you are feeling better? I have knee problems and they are so annoying, affecting everything you do! Mine tends to pop out of the socket just a bit and I have to get it back in. I hope yours is something as easy. Take care.

  2. Oh, sweetie... and to think you did it genuflecting! Consider yourself cyber-hugged.

I can no longer kneel with both knees when I enter the adoration chapel and come before the Blessed Sacrament. My left thigh always seizes up in a cramp, and it's everything I can do to not cry out and hop around until it relaxes. I'm such a wimp.

    Prayers for you, Joyce.

  3. Yikes Kathy, what do you have to do to pop it back in?

Julie, thank you, I don't know what I'm going to do when I go to Adoration. Getting stuck on the floor would not be graceful but I can just see it happening.
    Thanks for the prayers

    Joyce

    1. Usually jiggling it because it does not pop completely out but once it did, a big knot sticking out of my knee. I was so angry and tired of all the knee problems before I even knew what I was doing I put my foot on the tub and hit my knee. Much to my surprise, it went back in! I was in a car accident about 10 years where a guy slid into my lane on black ice and it broke my knee. I was the lucky one, he had to be cut out of the car and flown into the hospital plus stay in a full body cast afterwards. My knee's socket and ball don't quite fit perfectly anymore. They don't want to do a knee replacement until it's a constant problem. I manage just find most of the time, I just can't kneel (without a lot of pain) and I don't jump or walk too much in the woods due to the uneven ground. That might not be a problem for most but we live on five acres of woods! I'd love to walk the deer trails.

  4. I hope you feel better Joyce. I'm just getting over my sciatica myself, and that started acting up in September.
