Philadelphia Gets A New Shepherd

On the day of the feast commemorating Our Lady's birth, Archbishop Charles Chaput was installed as the shepherd of the flock of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.  Between Kermit Gosnell, flash mob violence and the clergy sex abuse scandal, the city founded by William Penn has come to resemble the epicenter of decay more than the City of Brotherly Love.  Let's pray we can put all of that behind us under Bishop Chaput's guardianship.

And please, Bishop Chaput, with all due respect, light a fire of Eucharistic love by following the Holy Father's example by requiring the faithful to kneel and receive the Lord from your hand directly on their tongues.  You needn't learn the TLM to do this.

God Bless you Archbishop Chaput!

Time for a new start  in more ways than one - like following the Holy Father's example and having the faithful kneel and receive their Eucharistic King on the tongue.  Archbishop Chaput said the Church should not be defined by her failures, or by critics or those "who dislike us."

  1. Everything I've read about Bishop Chaput tells me he's outstanding. I've gone on to say on some blog at Anchoress that he should be our next Pope. You are so blessed to have him. I used to feel blessed we got Bishop Dolan, but he's disappointed me terribly twice in the last couple of months. He was so weak in his fight over gay marriage here in NY and now he's absolutely said nothing about the 9/11 ceremony not having any clergy. From what I gathered about Bishop Chaput, he is a fighter against the anti catholic culture. Hope he can light a fire under my Bishop.

  3. Bishop Dolan is a very good natured man, and well respected among Bishops. He's very good in front of people and the camera. I was very proud to get him in NYC. Apparently though he's not confrontational, which is ok, but he does need to speak out. Still he's a good man, and i'm sure will serve us well overall. I'm just a little irked right now.

  5. Your post brought to mind this part of St. Louis de Montfort's prayer of consecration to Mary-

Amen, So be it--to all that thou didst do while on earth; Amen, so be it--to all that thou art now doing in Heaven; Amen, so be it--to all that thou art doing in my soul, so that thou alone mayest fully glorify Jesus in me for time and eternity. Amen.

The profundity of that passage always gives me the chills. Of course the entire prayer is amazing-
