Rest in Peace

Please keep the family and parishioners of Father Ron Jakows in your prayers.  Father Ron was the pastor of Annunciation BVM parish in South Philadelphia.  Father Ron died suddenly of a heart attack at the rectory last Wednesday.  His funeral Mass was celebrated today by Annunciation's former pastor, Father Gary Pacitti.  Cardinal Justin Rigali spoke at the funeral, which was attended by about 100 priests.  Father Ron was the former president of Neumann-Goretti High School.  He also taught Latin at Roman High School and was a  spiritual director for seminarians at St. Charles Borromeo in Overbrook, PA.  Father Ron had only been at Annunciation since July and his parishioners are understandably shaken by his loss.

Father Ron is survived by his mother, Irene, and his brother, Gregory.  His father, Raymond, passed away in 1987.

When a man decides to become a priest, he takes on the most awesome of all responsibilities.  Please remember to keep all priests, living and deceased, in your prayers every day.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord
And let perpetual light shine upon him.
May his soul, and all the souls of the faithful departed
Through the mercy of God
Rest in peace.
Amen.

  1. My goodness, he looks awefully young for this. May God embrace him in his heart.

  2. Yes, Father was only 47 years old. Quite a shock to his family and parish.
